We wanted to provide a raw and unedited insight to our client’s event cleaning work and how it really manifests itself in practise. Event cleaning is demanding, grubby and extensive covering everything from bin placement and management, both portable and fixed toilet cleaning, exhibitor management and support, ground clearance as well as the constant, ‘on the fly’ requests from the event organisers for additional services above and beyond the original brief.
A key element to being successful at event management is the relationship we help our clients form with both the event organisers, Aztec in this instance, and the exhibitors who often appear at most of the events we support.
Hylands Estate is a grade II* listed country park encompassing 574 acres of historic parkland offering wedding, events and shows. We arrived on site extra early having already carried out the usual risk assessments and project brief overview. We start by placing our bins in strategic areas which must be managed as it can be easy to overlook where we have placed them due to the number we provide. With regard this event, we had two mobile cleaning and collection trollies which are constantly being rotated around the event areas which are used to both collect and replace bin units as well as holding cleaning materials and disposables such as toilet rolls, soaps and drying towels.
Our objective is to ensure that that grass covered areas are constantly free of the rubbish that the public drop throughput the day. All rubbish bins are not allowed to be over-filled or to be covered in food and drink waste. Any event can become a poor experience for the public when the bins are left with overfilled waste that then spills on to the grass and floor spaces, especially in the food/picnic areas.
Once the event is over, we also provide the ‘end-of-show’ clean to ensure the venue is left as it was before the event took place.
Finaly, all the rubbish sacks are deposited in the industrial sized containers just of site and out of the public’s view.
