3 YEARS IN CORNWALL!
CORNWALL
WEBSITE UPDATES AND PHOTOGRAPHY
INTRODUCTION BY DAVID MARSH: Providing professional websites and social media services is one of the hardest tasks I have ever undertaken in the 44 years of my working life. I have worked in some of the hardest selling environments in the City of London and across the UK, yet when it comes to supplying digital services, my past seems simple and easy! This is due to a huge lack of awareness towards the Internet and digital services and their vital role in today’s commercial world. Thus, any proposals for new business tends to revolve around an attempt to educate, then sell. The trouble is that most people listen to us, but do not understand what we are saying, so end up going for the very cheap option and one that thankfully, W3C and Google are jointly ‘blacklisting’ due to the issues these cheap sites cause to the online community and their safety.
The story by Faye Marsh: This was one of those dream jobs where you end up working in a place you would normally go on holiday too. February 2022, we started working with Helford River Boats, based in Helford Passage, Cornwall owned and managed by Phill Brewer who spent a great deal of his early life living in Cornwall. Phill had just purchased HRB, which runs the oldest Ferry crossing in the UK dating back a thousand years. HRB also offers boat hire, kayak hire, paddleboard hire, marine services and HRB’s famous 90min river tour aboard the Dyson Seatruck!
Phil Brewer is a very experienced businessman earning his stripes in the City of London as a financial man and one that understands commerce and the effect that the digital world has on business.
Phil’s directive to us was as follows:
To build a powerful website that is fully interactive.
The site to look inviting and thus, aid in promoting a strong BRAND image.
Full SEO and the use of Google’s snippet technology.
To engage in the local Cornish community and help promote their services.
To attract sponsorship from both large & small concerns.
To promote the services of HRB.
Ongoing social media marketing to support the above.
All POS and marketing materials to be designed by us.
To create the sponsors adverts and mini-web pages as they join the HRB site.
Using our photographic services, we took HiDef images from over 26 of the most beautiful Cornish locations from around the county. These would form part of the gallery section within the website whilst also offering local commerce the chance to place an ADD under their location.  The lavish photographic images also helped promote Cornwall in the best way possible making the local small businesses, who associated themselves with site, look good!
Two of the very successful local businesses, Hotel Meudon and Shipwrights Arms took out mini-website pages with HRB. These ADDs are renewed per annum along with the smaller A5 adverts from other organisations.
Phil Brewer knew the importance of having a strong BRAND and took the decision to have his beach office, Ferry boat, signs and marketing materials adopt the new corporate colours along with the Orange ‘O’ we placed within his new logo we designed. We undertook the re-design of everything under the HRB banner from the Kiosk, signs, brochures, flyers, cards, merchandise, ferry boat livery, river tour boat etc.
Business growth and separation: The new HRB website became very well-known with numerous sponsors from the local business community. As such it became necessary to split the commercial marine services from the leisure services via a secondary website called HRBmarine.co.uk which we designed and built. This would also help attract larger corporate sponsors looking to be associated with a purely commercial online platform.
